The South West Group has an active interest in the conservation and management of the region’s natural resources and works with the member Councils and State Government agencies like the Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW) to establish more effective coordination in the planning and management of our regional parks and conservation reserves.

This comprehensive study involved the use of multi-criteria analysis and vegetation connectivity modelling to identify 155 areas of priority conservation action (APCA) in the South West Metropolitan Region and provided a solid baseline to assess the implications of the Strategic Assessment of Perth and Peel Region and the Perth and Peel Green Growth Plan.

This paper supports a presentation given by the South West Group to the Stakeholder Reference Group responsible for providing input into the Strategic Assessment of Perth and Peel Region, which later led to the development of the Perth and Peel Green Growth Plan.

The South West Group developed a regional approach to natural resources management (NRM) in the South West Metropolitan Region. The Regional NRM Strategy outlines a landscape vision for healthy communities through the establishment of a framework and the identification of priority projects and activities for collaboration and implementation.
