(Beeloo to Beeliar) Wadjup-Gabbilju | Wadjup-Gabbilju is an enthusiastic welcoming volunteer conservation heritage group maintaining the Canning River foreshore walk from Yagan Reserve along Bull Creek in Gabbilju to LoQuay cafe at Riverton Bridge in Wadjup. Since 2014 we have been using local native species for erosion control, interpretive purposes, and foreshore landscaping at a number of our 19 sign sites. We have been recreating elements of the original foreshore taking into consideration the habitat potential of each site and the changed landscape. Friends of Rossmoyne Park | A small band of volunteers meet in the park every Wednesday morning for two hours to maintain the park. Friends of Gabbiljee | Since 2010 we have been working towards our vision: • to have native fauna in the creek • to protect the bush native flora and fauna • for everyone in the area to develop a pride in our Noongar culture • for the neighbours to take pride in and ownership of the local bush and creek • and we hope to increase the knowledge of local residents so that they can grow more native plants and establish gardens that are river friendly. Swan Estuary Reserves Action Group ( SERAG ) | The Swan Estuary Reserves Action Group is concerned to foster and protect the exquisite natural values of the Swan River Estuary. We have several groups of dedicated volunteers who come down to the foreshore for a couple of hours for river-care activities – and are rewarded by the obvious improvements in habitat health and resilience that come about through careful weeding and planting, as well as by the joy of sighting increasing varieties of birds nesting and foraging. The well-earned cuppa enjoyed together on the river’s edge afterwards brings laughter, sharing and learning to each session, and encourages the return of our volunteers time and time again. Litter collections and bird walks are also regularly organised, as well as occasional educational events for the wider community.
